A 2-day course to assist attendees with the management and rehabilitation design of urban road pavements.

Our Facilitator
Philip du Plessis
BSc. Eng. (Civil), B Eng Honours (Transportation)
Philip du Plessis has a BSc. Eng. (Civil) and B Eng Honours (Transportation) degree from the University of Pretoria. He worked in the municipal engineering field for 27 years specializing roads, stormwater and transportation functions in the Springs and Ekurhuleni Metro municipalities. Philip joined the Springs Town Council in 1990 as Assistant Town Engineer and became the Springs Town Engineer in 1995. After the establishment of the Ekurhuleni Metro, he served as a Regional Director for Roads and Stormwater until 2013, he then joined the Public Transport Department to manage the planning, design and construction of the first phase of the Ekurhuleni BRT Infrastructure. Prior to joining the Springs Town Council he worked for the Transvaal Roads Department, the last five years thereof overseeing road construction and maintenance work in the Benoni region which covers the current southern Gauteng. Since leaving municipal service in 2017, he has conducted sub-consulting work and served as a mentor for SAICE-PDP’s municipal candidate technicians, technologists and engineers towards their professional registration with ECSA. He also did extensive work for Infrastructure South Africa where he assessed business plans for mega projects as a member of the Transport Technical Working Group. Philip is registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer and is a Fellow of IMESA.
